Although the term vintage with cheap vintage clothes is usually associated with a hefty price tag, there are some relatively cheap vintage shoes to be had. When we say relatively cheap, we mean that some of the quality pieces are priced less than the conventional designer shoes that you see in stores these days. So how do you choose the best vintage shoes for you? Here are some tips:

1. Define its use. There are people who like wearing vintage shoes and there are those who like collecting them. The first rule of thumb about wearable items is: make sure that it fits. Since most authentic vintage shoes are available in one size only, it is important to see if the shoes actually fit… especially if you intend to wear the pair for about several hours afterwards. This would not be such a problem if you are a shoe collector, though.

2. Check for quality. Most of the available vintage shoes may be seen with signs of wear. There are very rare pieces that are actually in mint condition; and those that are can be quite pricey. Checking the quality of the product will ensure that you will get your money’s worth. Make sure that the shoes are still pliable enough to handle (or wear) and that it retains its look despite its age.

3. Choose the ones that stand out. There are shoes, and there are shoes, and then there are shoes. Most people cannot tell vintage shoes from conventional shoes anyway. So, if you really want people to notice, try to choose the vintage pieces that have the most unique designs. Distinctive color and unusual materials also help garner people’s attention.
